Kaamatan and Gawai reflect unity through diversity

Kaamatan and Gawai reflect unity through diversity

The tadau kaamatan and gawai dayak celebrations are true reflections of “unity through diversity,” says Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

The Prime Minister said the two festivals, which were celebrated in sabah and Sarawak, reflected the genuine closeness and solidarity a shared set of positive values and belief could bring.

“This weekend serves as the culmination of Tadau Kaamatan – a month-long celebration particularly for the Kadazandusun community of sabah. Over the years, we have seen this time-honoured tradition grow in significance and celebrated out-side the state.

“In the neighbouring state of Sarawak, the same can also be said for the gawai Dayak celebration. Najib also urged Malaysians to ponder on what could be further accomplished in the spirit of 1 Malaysia.

Najib expressed his desire to participate in the festivities but said he could not do so as he would be in South Korea attending the Asean-Korean summit before heading to China to further enhance bilateralties.

I wish you all a wonderful kaamatan and Gawai.
